Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics

Overview

The Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics provides comprehensive women's healthcare services and is a key training site for MBBS and postgraduate students at AMCCu. The department manages normal and high-risk pregnancies, gynaecological disorders, and reproductive health issues.

With a busy labour ward, operation theatre, and outpatient department, students gain exceptional hands-on exposure to obstetric emergencies, normal deliveries, and gynaecological procedures.

  • High-Risk Pregnancy Clinic: Dedicated management of complicated pregnancies.
  • Gynaecological OPD: Management of menstrual disorders, infertility, and gynaecological cancers.
  • Operation Theatre: Caesarean sections, myomectomy, hysterectomy, and laparoscopic procedures.
  • Ultrasonography Unit: Obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound services.
  • Postgraduate Training: FCPS and Diploma training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

The department has a 40-bed maternity ward, a 4-bed delivery suite, a neonatal care unit, and a dedicated gynaecology ward. Over 1,500 deliveries are conducted annually.
